Acutopia Chinese Medicine
About Us
Looking for acupuncture in Spokane? You’ve come to the right place.

There are many paths to healing, and acupuncture and herbal medicine are some of the safest and most effective. With a 2,000 plus year track record, Chinese medicine (acupuncture and herbal therapy) has effectively treated human illness and pain safely, with few to no side effects.

We specialize in treating pain (chronic and acute) as well as headache/migraine, eye problems (macular degeneration), diabetes, digestive disorders, skin disorders, and rheumatologic complaints to name just a few.

  • Acupuncture – is safe, powerful, and relaxing. Acupuncture has been practiced since antiquity and harnesses your body’s own innate power to heal itself. Needles gently inserted into the body soothe the nervous system, reduce inflammation, free up blockages and promote circulation throughout the body.
  • Moxibustion – is the burning of the herb mugwort (Artemisia) on or near the body or in conjunction with acupuncture to improve microcirculation through a warming action.
  • Traditional Bodywork – Cupping (myofascial decompression), Gua Sha (dermal friction), Tui Na (Chinese massage), are adjuncts to acupuncture and are helpful for treating pain, inflammation, injuries, muscle tension, and help you to relax deeply.
  • Chinese Herbal Medicine – Chinese herbal therapy is safe, gentle, and effective, with centuries of knowledge behind it. Herbal masters from antiquity composed herbal mixtures that are still used today to nourish the body and mind, and heal a multitude of maladies safely and gently, and without the harsh side effects of many pharmaceutical drugs. I maintain a full Chinese herbal pharmacy with over 200 organic and lab-tested herbs and medicinal substances and can craft the best formula for your health needs.

Our goal is to listen to you and ensure we work together for you to receive the best healing possible.

Meet John F. Moore, L.Ac, EAMP

My name is John Moore, and I am a doctor of acupuncture and herbal medicine based in Spokane, Washington. I strive to create an experience where you feel comfortable and relaxed. If you are new to acupuncture and have some reservations about needles, I will walk you through the process so that you feel at ease.

Most people find this form of medicine to be relaxing and restorative. I am a 2008 graduate of the Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine, where I was rigorously trained in traditional and modern acupuncture techniques and in the art of Chinese herbal medicine. I was awarded a Masters Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and licensed to practice by the Washington State Health Department in 2008. In 2018 I extended my training and received my doctorate from the Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine, with a focus on integrative health and herbal therapeutics.

I look forward to helping you with your health concerns using a safe, effective, and gentle approach to wellness.

Carly Demers

Carly Demers

Front Desk Assistant

Carly is our office manager and the friendly face behind the front desk. Doctor Moore and Carly work together as a formidable team to keep the internal structure of the practice running smoothly. A lot happens outside of the acupuncture treatment rooms – calls need to be answered, patients to be scheduled, insurance verified, supplies ordered, herbal formulas to be compounded, and the list goes on. Having a talented administrative staff is what makes or breaks the success of the practice. Acutopia Chinese Medicine is proud to have such an upbeat and skilled person for our administrative personnel.
